ZIMBABWE Tourist was exploring the natural beauty of Zimbabwe when he was attacked by an aggressive leopard. The leopard inflicted him many superficial injuries and tore his skin. Miraculously, the animal didn’t kill him. The victim was rushed to hospital where he made a full recovery after a couple of weeks and apart from a few scars will have no lasting effects.
Encounters with leopards in the wild are extremely rare. These felines do not usually attack humans unless they feel threatened. It is therefore very important to remain calm, look the animal in the eye and not try to run away, as this could awaken the animal’s predatory instinct. But the best defence is prevention, namely not venturing into leopard territory alone.
Some sources say the man was attacked by a black leopard. But this is extremely unlikely, as black leopards have never been confirmed in Zimbabwe.
