MEDELLÍN, COLOMBIA Man climbed an electrical pole in front of several dozen bewildered bystanders. When he touched high-voltage wires, he was immediately shocked and fell down. He was pronounced dead at the scene. As it later turned out, it was not a suicide act in the true sense of the word. The man was severely mentally ill and likely did not perceive reality at all.
If you’re thinking about suicide, please stop and recognize that your pain is not permanent, but this step would be. It may feel like there’s no other way, but there is hope, even if it’s hard to see right now. Your feelings are temporary, and with help, they can pass.
