MINNEAPOLIS, USA – MAY 25, 2020 An uncensored full-length bodycam video captures the death of 46-year-old African-American George Floyd. The death occurred in a police intervention where Officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for more than 8 minutes, suffocating him. George Floyd has said several times that he can’t breathe. The policeman did not respect this and knelt on his neck even after the paramedics arrived.
The video of the attack began to spread massively on social networks and gore websites. The death of George Floyd outraged African-Americans, reopening American taboo topics such as racism and police brutality against the African-American population. A large wave of protests followed, accompanied by looting. Officer Chauvin was sentenced to 22 and a half years in prison for murder.

George Floyd currently has a bronze statue erected in the city of Minneapolis. The slogan “Black Lives Matter” is already inextricably linked to his name. However, it must be noted that George Floyd has a past as a criminal and drug addict. Some people have strongly objected to statues of criminals like Floyd being built.
