MARITUBA, BRAZIL – OCTOBER 7, 2024 On Monday, October 7, 2024, 22-year-old footballer Ricardo Emanuel Alcântara Paiva, known as “Ricardinho,” was shot and killed in the Brazilian city of Marituba, in the Greater Belém area.
Ricardinho, a product of Clube do Remo’s youth academy, made his professional debut in January 2023. In March 2024, he underwent surgery and was sidelined for rehabilitation.
According to witnesses, Ricardinho was sitting on the sidewalk with two friends, Daivison Lucas da Silva Braga and Flávio de Jesus de Souza, when a black car drove by. One of the passengers opened fire on them, resulting in the deaths of all three men.
The following day, October 8, police discovered a vehicle that may have been used in the crime. The car is undergoing forensic analysis. Investigators have also interviewed witnesses and are gathering surveillance footage from the area to identify the perpetrators. The case is being handled by the Homicide Department in São Brás, Belém.
Clube do Remo expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their young player and paid tribute to his career, which began in the youth teams and led to his professional debut in 2023.
