Jeffrey Dahmer was an American serial killer who was active mainly in the 1980s and the early 1990s. His crimes are among the most well-known and most shocking cases in modern criminology.
Between 1978 and 1991, he murdered at least 17 young men and boys. He often lured his victims to his apartment in Milwaukee under various pretenses. There, he drugged them and subsequently killed them. In some cases, he attempted to preserve the bodies, which later led to him being charged with other extremely serious acts related to the handling of remains.
Dahmer was arrested in 1991 after one of his intended victims escaped and led the police to his apartment, where evidence confirming the extent of his crimes was found. He was subsequently sentenced to multiple life sentences without the possibility of release.
