PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA – OCTOBER 7, 2014 Casual passers-by saw something strange in the water from the river bank in the Chroy Changvar Sangkat area. At first they didn’t pay much attention to it, thinking it was just garbage or a baby turtle. But after a while they discovered the horrifying truth – it was the dead body of a young woman floating upside down.
She was identified as 20-year-old Song Dawin, a student at the Vanda Institute of Accounting. A forensic autopsy confirmed that she had been raped. Many bruises were also found on her body, indicating that she had suffered incredibly before her death. There was no water in her lungs, which is clear evidence that she was already dead by the time she was thrown into the water.
Her parents said Song had been missing for two days. The results of the police investigation are unknown.
