MONTILLA, PHILIPPINES – JANUARY 2, 2024 John Albert Templatura, who had just celebrated his 32nd birthday, and his 70-year-old father Godofredo were shot to death by a soldier during a birthday party. Stray bullets wounded two uninvolved people: 49-year-old Marites Rafol and 34-year-old Jeisel Abaño. Both were hit in the leg.
The soldier was detained by police. In his statement, he said he was very sorry about the whole situation. However, he said that he acted in self-defense because both of them were holding a gun.
