MANAUS, AMAZONAS, BRAZIL – MAY 13, 2026 Tragic murder of a young woman occurred, which was supposed to be the outcome of a love conflict. Twenty-five-year-old Karoline Lopes de Souza died after a stabbing attack, of which twenty-year-old Amanda Souza da Rocha is suspected. The incident took place in the Jorge Teixeira neighborhood in the eastern part of the city.

According to the police, both women were previously friends and lived together in one house for some time. The dispute was supposed to begin after Karoline started a relationship with Amanda’s partner. The man subsequently broke up with Amanda and started living with Karoline, which was supposed to lead to long-term tension between the two women.
On the day of the attack, Amanda came to her former partner’s house allegedly because of personal belongings that had remained there. During an argument, however, a physical conflict occurred during which she pulled out a knife and stabbed Karoline several times in the chest. The injured woman was transported to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save her.
After the attack, the suspect initially fled, but later during the night she turned herself in to the police. The case is now being investigated by local authorities as a murder.
