MANAUS, BRAZIL – FEBRUARY 6, 2017 29-year-old Andreza Souza dos Santos was found dead with multiple stab wounds in her home on Rua Pau Rosa, in the Monte das Oliveiras neighborhood, in the northern part of Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil.
Her brother, who works as a night security guard and wishes to remain anonymous, discovered her body early in the morning on February 6, 2017, when he returned home. Andreza was lying in a pool of blood in the living room.
The main suspect in the murder is a woman named Leila Assunção, with whom Andreza had a romantic relationship. According to a neighbor’s testimony, Leila was seen leaving the victim’s house at dawn, hurriedly getting into her car, and appearing nervous.

Leila was known to be a jealous and aggressive girlfriend. The couple often argued, and Andreza’s brother had tried to intervene and convince her to end the relationship to protect her. Whenever Andreza mentioned the possibility of breaking up, Leila would threaten her, saying that she would kill her if she ever left.

Police from the Homicide Department stated that there were no signs of a break-in or robbery at the scene. Even Andreza’s cell phone was not taken, completely ruling out the possibility of a robbery followed by murder.
