SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – OCTOBER 23, 2023 A teenager armed with a pistol walked into Sapopemba State School in the eastern zone of São Paulo. In the corridor there, he killed 17-year-old student Giovanna Bezerra in cold blood.

He then entered a classroom full of students, where he shot 15-year-old Emily Silva and Fernando Rebeiro. Emily miraculously survived, as the bullet passed through her hair, as can be seen in the video footage. The others managed to escape the classroom. It is evident that the attacker directed his gunfire only towards the girls.
The school’s assistant principal disarmed the shooter and detained him until the police arrived. The shooter was identified as a 16-year-old student of the same school. His motive for the shooting was probably bullying.
