VERACRUZ, MEXICO – FEBRUARY 11, 2021 Three police officers were shot and one wounded in the Ferrer Guardia neighbourhood. They were attacked by several gunmen while carrying out routine patrol work. The officers did not even have time to defend themselves. There is speculation that a cartel was behind the attack, but this has never been confirmed as the attackers have never been caught.

One woman was among the murdered officers, the rest were men. Their names are Hitan Andrés Mota Rodríguez, Santiago Zapo Palayot, Rita Cecilia Romero Vicon. The injured officer who survived the attack thanks to the doctors was Víctor R. H.
