FLORES COSTA CUCA, QUETZALTENANGO, GUATEMALA – JULY 25, 2025 Armed attack took place right in the city’s central park, targeting a group of teenagers. Three were killed, and one was seriously injured.
Deceased have been identified as 19-year-old Saúl Antonio López, 14-year-old Melvin Castellanos López, and 14-year-old Carlos Miguel Tema. All of them were from Flores Costa Cuca.
Motive for the attack is currently unknown and is the subject of an intense police investigation. However, according to early statements from investigators, a robbery can likely be ruled out, mainly due to the brutality of the crime. Each victim was shot multiple times in the head at close range.
