MONTERÍA, CÓRDOBA, COLOMBIA – NOVEMBER 25, 2024 Tragic incident occurred in the Niza complex on Carrera Street in the north of Montería. A woman’s body was found dead under one of the residential buildings. She was only half-naked with her breasts exposed. It was not difficult to identify her as 23-year-old María José Calle Martínez, because she lived on the 6th floor of the building.

Her body showed all the signs that she had fallen from her balcony. At first there was speculation that it was an accident or suicide. But gradually, a much more horrifying truth began to emerge. Although not yet adjudicated, she was probably murdered by her boyfriend Jorge Garrido.

Several of their neighbors had met them that evening before the tragic morning in a considerable state of inebriation. Afterwards, noise, arguments, cries for help and loud bangs could be heard from their apartment. Examination of María’s body revealed that, in addition to the injuries caused by the fall from a height, she had several scratches on her face and a bruise on the right side of her chest.
At present, Jorge Garrido is a suspect in her murder and the police are collecting all available evidence relevant to the trial. It is very likely that he will be sentenced to prison for her murder.
