KONDUGA, BORNO, NIGERIA, 2023 Islamist radicals belonging to one of the terrorist organizations operating in Nigeria, such as the African branch of ISIS or Boko Haram, carried out an armed attack on civilians in the city of Konduga. The photos show the tragic consequences of their rampage.
The security situation in Nigeria’s Borno State has been very poor for a long time. Due to its location and smuggling routes from neighboring countries, the government does not have full control there. Borno has therefore become a stronghold not only for terrorists, but also for criminal groups and gangs of international scale. Attacks on civilians occur there quite frequently, including village burnings and bomb attacks.
