VIJAYAWADA, ANDHRA PRADESH, INDIA – SEPTEMBER 20, 2026 46-year-old Maddhi Sujatha died after suffering severe burns in an accident while preparing food for free distribution. The incident occurred during Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations. Sujatha was helping prepare the food when she lost her balance while handling a large container of boiling sambar (spicy South Indian soup) and fell into it.

People present immediately pulled her out of the container and took her to a government hospital. She suffered extensive burns, including injuries to her face and chest, but despite treatment, she succumbed to her injuries the following day. The incident was captured by security cameras. Police are investigating the case as an unfortunate accident and are examining the circumstances of the fall as well as the safety measures in place during food preparation.
