18 dead bodies from war of drug gangs

PUTUMAYO, COLOMBIA During the clash between two Colombian drug gangs – Border Commandos and Southwestern Bloc, which are now at war over the territory of Putumayo on the border with Peru and Ecuador, 18 fighters from both groups lost their lives. Local civilians were forced to clean up the dead bodies left behind by one of the battles. The two drug gangs have been at war with each other for many years. Currently, however, the intensity of the fighting has increased. The territory of Putumayo is very strategic for the drug trade. There are coca growing areas that are close to smuggling routes.
