ZAVYALOVO, ALTAI KRAI, RUSSIA – MARCH 4, 2025 Regional politician, the head of the Zavyalovsky District, was fatally shot by an unknown assailant while leaving a café. Although official Russian media never published the name of the victim, it is no secret that the Zavyalovsky District has been led by Nikolai Onishchenko since October 2022.

The police are currently working on apprehending the perpetrator and determining the motive for his murder. Some Russian Telegram channels claimed that the shooter was his former employee, Anatoly Fenin, but this has not yet been confirmed.
