NARA, JAPAN – JULY 8, 2022 When former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe delivered his speech outside a train station in Nara, he was assassinated. 41-year-old Tetsuya Yamagami fatally shot him with his homemade gun. Abe was immediately transported by helicopter to a hospital, but was pronounced dead there.

The shooter’s motivation was primarily the fact that Abe, as one of Japan’s most influential figures, was promoting a church he vehemently disliked. It’s practically a sect in which members are forced to make large financial donations.

Due to the fact that his speech was public and there were hundreds of people in attendance, including the media, several videos have been posted on the internet showing the assassination from different angles.
