EUNÁPOLIS, BRAZIL – MAY 12, 2012 Taíse Ruas da Silva, a 14-year-old student, was executed in the middle of Rua 5 near the church in Vila Olímpica. The girl lived not far from the murder scene.
The police investigating the case were unable to obtain any information or witnesses. It is common for residents of the gang’s territory not to cooperate with the police at all because they would risk their own lives.
The girl had bullet holes in her chest, arm and shoulder. The shocked family said they did not understand why anyone would want to kill her. They said she was not involved in any criminal activity. Her sister said Taíse had few friends in the neighborhood and none of them had any interest in her death.
