RIO BRANCO, ACRE, BRAZIL – JULY 28, 2026 Forty-six-year-old Mariléia Ferreira dos Santos died in a serious traffic accident in which the motorcycle she was riding as a passenger collided with a truck transporting cattle on the BR-364 highway.
The motorcycle was driven by her husband, 47-year-old Altemir de Souza Menezes. He survived the accident but suffered several injuries, including abrasions on his body and a fracture of his right shoulder blade. He was later transported from the scene for medical treatment.
The truck driver remained at the scene after the collision and cooperated with the police. Breath tests of both drivers did not detect the presence of alcohol. However, police found that Altemir de Souza Menezes did not have a valid driver’s license.
Upon arriving at the scene, rescuers found that Mariléia Ferreira dos Santos was already showing no signs of life. She suffered extensive injuries, including several abrasions and a laceration on her left arm. The exact circumstances of the accident and its cause are subject to further investigation. Investigators examined the scene and will prepare an expert report to clarify the course of the tragic collision.
