RON PHIBUN, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, THAILAND – AUGUST 11, 2020 38-year-old Sumontra Maskiriwong was brutally murdered on the road leading to Khun Phang Waterfall. According to police, a 26-year-old employee known as Aod lured her to the location under the pretext of an important conversation.
Sumontra arrived by car with her 34-year-old girlfriend, Kridaporn Silasith. Aod allegedly later caught up with them on a motorcycle, opened the passenger door, and slit Sumontra’s throat. He then pulled her from the car and stabbed her 22 times in the chest and abdomen before fleeing the scene.
Sumontra had previously worked at a department store but recently left and started operating a wholesale seafood stall at Hua It Market. She employed approximately five or six people, including Aod. After the murder, police investigated his motive and searched for him. He left his motorcycle at the crime scene after the attack.
Police arrested Aod at his home the following day. During questioning, he reportedly confessed to the murder. According to police, the motive was jealousy – Aod and Sumontra Maskiriwong were allegedly lovers, and the man reportedly discovered that Sumontra was having an affair with another man.
