SERRA TALHADA, PERNAMBUCO, BRAZIL – JULY 11, 2025 Family tragedy shook the city of Serra Talhada in northeastern Brazil. In a house on Rua Luiz Brás de Souza, in the Borborema neighborhood, a heated argument broke out between 24-year-old Gyslaine Borges de Souza and her 61-year-old grandmother, Maria Borges da Silva, which ended in death.

According to witness statements, during the argument Maria flew into a total rage and lost control. She grabbed a knife and stabbed her granddaughter several times in the neck. The young woman soon died from excessive blood loss.
Police arrested the perpetrator at the scene. She confessed to everything and was brought before a judge the very next day, where her fate was to be decided. However, the court’s decision was not made public.
