SÃO LUÍS, MARANHÃO, BRAZIL – MARCH 20, 2026 Reserve police major identified as José de Jesus Pereira was found dead on Avenida Litorânea. Apparently, he committed suicide with his service weapon and shot himself in the head.

His colleagues and acquaintances stated that he had been experiencing long-term depression stemming from family problems. In the past, he reportedly tried to set his own house on fire.
